It’s A Cookbook

obama_to_serve_man_270

"Trust Me"

There was a classic episode of The Twilight Zone called “To Serve Man” in which aliens come to earth, landing in various cities around the world.  A representative of the aliens addresses the United Nations to explain the purpose of their visit, which is basically to fix all our problems…to end hunger, end war, and essentially just save us from ourselves. Upon completing his UN address,  the alien representative leaves a book behind which, presumably, contains all the answers to any questions the earthlings might have. Problem is, the book is written in the aliens’ native language, so the job of translating it is given to our hero, a cryptography expert by the name of Michael Chambers, and his lovely assistant Patty.

Throughout the story, Michael Chambers – who gives every indication from the get-go of willfully putting aside any natural skepticism he may otherwise have had in order to embrace the idea of this alien-provided ‘hope and change’ – and Patty try to decipher the book and eventually crack the title – “To Serve Man”. Michael immediately takes the title at face value and optimistically calls it “a reasonably altruistic phrase”, while Patty says, quite apprehensively “well, I want to believe it….but, I don’t know what to think..”.

Smart girl, that Patty.

In the mean time, the aliens are living up to their word. War, sickness, famine – all things of the past. Barren deserts are now lush, bountiful farmland. Everywhere in the world, people are healthy, well-fed, and life is good.

Regular flights have begun between Earth and the alien’s planet. Michael has long since abandoned the book translation project, as he along with pretty much everybody else is convinced the the aliens are indeed the true saviors of mankind. Patty, however, keeps working on the book.

Towards the end of the story, Michael is standing in line and about to board a flight to the alien planet when Patty comes running up with some pretty bad news. “Mr. Chambers… Mr. Chambers. Don’t get on that ship. The rest of the book, ‘To Serve Man’… It’s a cookbook!” Unfortunately for our hero, he does not escape, but is forced onto the ship and to his final destination as an entree in some distant galaxy. Who knows, maybe he was served up as “wagyu human” at some self-absorbed politicians dinner party…

Like our alien friends, the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, along with his administration, is not what he seems. This isn’t just wild speculation by some over imaginative wingnut. If your eyes are open, the evidence is overwhelming:

It goes on and on, and had this been George W Bush, mobs of people would be marching on the White House with torches, pitchforks and strategically knotted lengths of rope. But since it’s Obama, many among us will neither see nor acknowledge the undermining of our country that’s taking place from within the highest reaches of our government, and right in front of us.

Sure, you see it and I see it, but people at large just…I dunno…oblivious, and following along while pooh-pooing those of us who, like Patty, are using our healthy sense of skepticism to cut past the hype and b.s. and get to what’s really happening. And far be it from me to say “I told you so”, particularly considering the seriousness of the subject, but we on the right called this one a year and a half ago.

The liberal left will follow this man right off a cliff to their own demise rather than ever admit that they made a mistake. Well, you know…so be it. However, it’s the rest of those obliviots  – the ones who still have the ability to save themselves – who I fear will end up like poor Michael Chambers, not finally figuring it out until it’s too late to do anything about it.

To those people, I say this:

It’s A Cookbook!

Janet Napolitano = Politically Correct Coward

Is there nothing this administration won’t do to embolden our enemies?

From Fox News:

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has an explanation about why she never mentioned the word “terrorism” during her first testimony on Capitol Hill.

Napolitano tells the German news site Spiegel Online that while she presumes there is always a threat from terrorism: “I referred to “man-caused” disasters. That is perhaps only a nuance, but it demonstrates that we want to move away from the politics of fear toward a policy of being prepared for all risks that can occur.”

James Carafano, senior research fellow at the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation says: “By deliberately trying not to use the T word they run a serious political risk. If something does happen, they’ll be accused of taking their eye off the ball and no amount of explanation after the fact will suffice.”

Here’s a clue, bubblehead – it wasn’t a ‘man-caused disaster’ that took down the twin towers. It was a pair of commercial aircraft piloted by Saudi terrorists. You know, terrorism.

Hat tip to Sean Hannity, who said of this (I’ll paraphrase) “If you can’t even call it what it is, how can you expect to fight it?”

ACORN To ‘Assist’ With 2010 Census

obama_acorn_275What do you do with an organization whose members have multilpe indictments and convictions across the country on charges including federal election fraud, identity theft, filing false registrations, submitting a false signatures, and which has a lengthy history of fraudulent  activity related to voter registration?

Apparently, in in Obama’s Amerika, you put them to work for the 2010 Census.

According to Fox News:

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now signed on as a national partner with the U.S. Census Bureau in February 2009 to assist with the recruitment of the 1.4 million temporary workers needed to go door-to-door to count every person in the United States — currently believed to be more than 306 million people.

First, Obama tries to hijack control of the Census from the Department of Commerce, and now ACORN, a thoroughly corrupt far-left organization with whom Obama has close ties, will have a role in recruiting those who will do the actual counting of our population.

(Here is a piece from the New York Times on the importance of the Census).

This cannot be allowed to stand. However, there’s no point in arguing why ACORN should not be allowed to participate in the census. Make no mistake, the myriad reasons that should disqualify ACORN are the very same reasons that this corrupt Chicago-thug administration wants them.

Dodd’s and Obama’s AIG ‘Outrage’ – The Con Is On

Chris Dodd is pretending to be outraged over the AIG bonuses. What we’re not being told is that, reportedly,  Dodd is the one who allowed the bonuses to be paid out in the first place.

From Rich Edson at Fox Business:

While the Senate was constructing the $787 billion stimulus last month, Dodd added an executive-compensation restriction to the bill. That amendment provides an “exception for contractually obligated bonuses agreed on before Feb. 11, 2009” — which exempts the very AIG bonuses Dodd and others are now seeking to tax.

The amendment made it into the final version of the bill, and is law.

This ‘outrage’ on the part of Dodd, Obama, and the rest of the Washington crew is nothing but a dog-and-pony show. Smoke and mirrors from an administration and congress to whom the words ‘accountability’ and ‘responsibility’ mean nothing unless being applied to those of us who move the economy by actually working for a living.

We’re being conned, folks. Are AIG saints? of course not, and in my opinion, they should be allowed to fall into bankruptcy and never, ever recieve another dime of taxpayer money. However, the only ‘outrage’ I see is how this administration is painting AIG as the bad guys and trying to make themselves look like some sort of populist heroes, while in reality they’ve not only known about the bonuses this whole time, but specifically authorized them..

Disgraceful.

Ed Morrisey over at Hot Air has a good piece on this today:

“A Desperate Search For Money At Any Cost”

As I said yesterday regarding Obama’s plan to require private insurance to cover veterans’ military-related health care costs:

The president’s avowed purpose in doing this is to, quote, ‘make the insurance companies pay their fair share,’” Roberts said. But he said it will raise premiums, make insurance unaffordable for veterans and impose a massive hardship on military families. It could also prevent small businesses from hiring veterans who have large health care needs, he said.

Fox news has the story.

I haven’t heard much about this until today, but apparently it’s been brewing for a couple of months.

From PRNewswire:

WASHINGTON, March 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The leader of the nation’s largest veterans organization says he is “deeply disappointed and concerned” after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.

If this is true, then it’s just goes to further illustrate the lack of concern and respect our current president has for military personnel, and by extension, the safety and security of our country.

WHY would he even consider such a thing? There’s simply no way he doesn’t understand the ramifications of such a move, number one which will be unnecessarily increasing the level of hardship among those who, unlike our current commander-in-chief, put on a uniform and honorably served their country. In addition, we need to consider the negative effect it will most certainly have on morale among current military personnel as well as the probability of reduced enlistment numbers.

What about the effect it will have on the cost of private health insurance for everyone? On the other hand, maybe driving up the cost of health insurance is the whole point?

Whatever ends up happening, one thing is absolutely 100% crystal clear – this administration is going out of its way to undermine our country along with anything and everything that has made it great.

I dunno….on stories like this I waver somewhere between being dazed by the sheer surrealism of it all and the reality that nothing that this moronic, incompetent administration does can surprise me anymore.

Remember when John McCain said that the ‘fundamentals of the economy are strong’ during the campaign? Remember how the Obama campaign reacted by mocking McCain for that statement, with campaign spokesman Bill Burton calling him ‘disturbingly out of touch’, and Obama himself doing everything he could to paint McCain as some doddering old fool? (At this point, I’m sure the liberals among you are drawing a convenient blank, but it’s OK, we’re used to it…)

On 9/15/2008, John McCain said this:

“And my opponents may disagree, but those fundamentals — the American worker and their innovation, their entrepreneurship, the small business, those are the fundamentals of America, and I think they’re strong,”

On 3/15/09, Christina Romer said this (from the AP):

On Sunday, economic adviser Christina Romer was asked during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” if the fundamentals of the economy were sound.

“Of course they are sound,” she replied.

“The fundamentals are sound in the sense that the American workers are sound, we have a good capital stock, we have good technology,” she said.

“We know that — that temporarily we’re in a mess, right? We’ve seen huge job loss, we’ve seen very large falls in GDP. So certainly in the short run we’re in a — in a bad situation.”

Just a week ago, White House Office of Management and Budget director Peter Orszag declared that “fundamentally, the economy is weak.”

Geez….a layman might think that Christina Romer just said exactly the same thing John McCain said six months ago. A layman might also get the impression that this administration doesn’t know its ass from a hole in the ground. You know what, he’d be right. These idiots can’t even get on the same page with their message, and then they wonder why the American people are losing confidence in them at a dizzying clip?

Of course, I’d bet my last dollar that before I hit the ‘publish’ button for this post, the liberal machine will already be explaining how what we heard wasn’t really what she said, how what she said wasn’t really what she said at all, how it’s all GWB’s fault anyway, and oh, by the way, look OVER THERE, SOMETHING SHINY!

I just can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.

‘Going Galt” And The Left’s Reaction
