John Walker Lindh and defense attorney Tony West

John Walker Lindh and defense attorney Tony West

The defense attorney for ‘American Taliban’ John Walker Lindh , a former Janet Reno aid by the name of Tony West,  is President Obama’s pick to head up the U.S. Justice Department’s Civil Division.

That’s right. The President of the United States of America believes that a man who defended not just a terrorist, but a traitorous terrorist, is well suited for a position of power within our justice department.

I’m pretty sure the fact that Mr. West raised a reported 65 million dollars for Obama’s campaign had nothing to do with his nomination. No, seriously..

This is huge, and Big Media has completely ignored the story.

Conservative Nation Welcomes the U.S. Senate

So there I was, checking out the server logs for the conservativenation.net website (I’m sort of a geek that way) when something caught my eye. It was a series of entries showing that yesterday’s Kay Hagan post had been accessed from an email link. Nothing unusual about that except for the fact that the site had been live for less than 24 hours and the Hagan post itself wasn’t quite 9 hours old. Curiousity getting the better of me, I looked up the IP address, which came back registered to the  U.S. Senate Sergeant at Arms.

My best guess is that someone from Hagan’s office checked Google for new content related to the senator (doing so this afternoon brought up only a half-dozen links total, one of which was to my Hagan post) and then followed it straight to our humble site.

So, welcome to Conservative Nation, U.S. senate. You may not always like what you read here, but it’s good to see you’re paying attention.

More Smear From The Left

The culture of tolerance strikes again.

Today, Politico reports on a daily conference call between several high-profile liberal organizations with ties to the white house, a main purpose of which is to discuss and plan methods of trashing the reputation of those speaking out against “reform”, ie the Obama administration.

“There’s a coordination in terms of exposing the people who are trying to come out against reform —they’ve all got backgrounds and histories and pasts, and it’s not taking long to unearth that and to unleash that, because we’re all working together,” Schechner said.

To Kay Hagan, Thanks For Nothing

Kay Hagan

Senator Kay Hagan, an illegal's best friend

So here we are in the midst of a global recession. Nationwide unemployment as of this writing sits at 8.1%, while North Carolina’s unemployent is a whopping 9.7%. That’s the sixth-highest rate of unemployment in the country, and the one month increase of 1.6% between December and January is (along with Oregon and South Carolina) the highest in the country.

It would be expected then that our elected officials would be doing anything and everything they could to protect and preserve North Carolina jobs. One very obvious way to do this would be to ensure that employers hire ONLY those of us who are in the United States legally. A no-brainer, right?

Yesterday, the US senate defeated an amendment to the $410 billion Omnibus Appropriations bill (H.R. 1105) that would have provided a long-term extension of the E-verify program through 2014. Among those voting to table (kill) the amendment was our very own Senator Kay Hagan.

E-Verify, for those who aren’t familiar with it, is a highly accurate internet-based system that provides an automated link to federal databases to help employers determine employment eligibility of new hires and the validity of their Social Security numbers.

E-verify is authorized in the omnibus bill, though only through September of this year after which it is expected to be used as a bargaining chip by congressional democrats in their quest for a new mass amnesty bill. A long-term extension of E-verify would deny democrats this bargaining tool, and well….we can’t have that, can we?

A reasonable person would see the long-term extension of  E-verify as a good thing for obvious reasons, as would any elected official who gave even the slightest consideration the the well-being of the good people of their state; those who work hard, pay their taxes, follow and respect the law, and generally try to do the right thing .

But not our Kay Hagan. Predictably, she cast her vote in favor of the illegal aliens who are taking our jobs and the  employers who hire them, and against the people of North Carolina – who, incidentally, pay her salary and were foolish enough to put her in office in the first place.

Thanks for nothing, Kay. 2014 can’t get here soon enough.
