The Fallacy Of Healthcare Reform II

Just about a month ago, I posted on The Fallacy Of Healthcare ‘Reform’, exposing to the best of my abilities the truth behind what Barack Obama and his radical leftist administration are really trying to accomplish with the healthcare takeover. I wanted to take the opportunity today to repost a video from that article, because Obama is still insisting that he’s not trying to put private insurers out of business.

He is.

And now he’s upset because more and more Americans are on to him. That’s what the big rush is all about. It has nothing to do with the economy (his assertion that medical costs are one of the main forces behind the current recession is a flat-out lie), and it has nothing to do with some sort of non-existent medical crisis. What it has to do with is his falling poll numbers, his deteriorating support among moderate and conservative democrats, the increasingly vocal opposition from the American people, and his now-signature tactic of obscuring facts behind a blizzard of activity – the more confusing the better – and misdirection (look, over there, something shiny!…).

Anyway, without further adieu:

The Public Plan Deception – It’s Not About Choice

This man – these people – must be stopped. Call, Fax and Email your representatives and let them know that you do not support Obamacare.

ObamaCare Down But Not Out. Yet.

Seriously, is this our president, or some immature pansy kid starting to kick and scream because he isn’t getting his way? Or maybe it’s just our post-racial healer doing the lord’s work by bringing us all together…
Dear Leader Tweets: Obamacare Opponents Are “Playing Politics With Our Lives”

Or maybe the American people are finally waking up, with a little help from news items like this:
The CBO Death Knell For “Obamacare”

Or this:
Mayo Clinic calls House plan bad medicine

Or this:
Obama admits he’s ‘not familiar with house bill

…but I’ll bet you didn’t know (and probably won’t be a bit surprised) that there are
Racial Preferences in the Democrats’ Health Care Bill

The people are taking it to their representatives:
Rep Russ Carnahan loudly heckled at town hall meeting as he tries to sell healthcare reform to the people

Health and Human Services secretary Katherine Sebelius booed, told: “Itll be a cold day in hell before he socializes my healthcare”.

Congress is getting the message:
Facing Blue Dog Rebellion, House Energy and Commerce Committee Cancels Markup for 2nd Day in a Row

We’re not there yet though…….don’t think for a minute that the creeps in congress can’t be bought off by Pelosi and Reid. The stake isn’t through the heart of this thing yet, so ramp up the pressure. Call, fax and email your representatives, and if there’s a protest happening within driving distance, be there. The tea parties are working.

Cnation’s Picks for 7/21/2009

Jake Tapper: President Obama to Delay Release of Mid-Session Budget Review:
The Obama administration announced Monday that its Mid-Session Budget Review would not be released this month, as previously scheduled, but rather would be pushed to August.

The Obama administration’s projections of economic growth, the deficit and the unemployment rate in preliminary budget estimates in February and May have since been proven overly optimistic.  As the president pushes for the House and Senate to pass health care reform legislation before adjourning for the August recess, it could complicate matters to have an official White House acknowledgment that the economy is far worse that it had predicted – especially as moderate Democrats in the House and Senate balk at the cost of the proposals. more…..

House Republican Leader John Boehner: Fact Check: President Repeats Debunked Claims on Health Care in Weekly Address :

Democrats’ Expensive Government Takeover of Health Care Will Add to the Deficit, Drive Millions Off of Their Current Plans

Washington, Jul 18 - President Obama is using his weekly address today to repeat some of the same claims that have been debunked time and time again during the health care debate.  While Republicans have offered a better solution to give more Americans access to affordable health care without a small business tax, without raising health care costs, and without forcing millions of Americans off of their current plans, Democrats have stubbornly barreled ahead with their flawed government-run plan.  Here are some previously-debunked claims the President resurrected in his weekly address today: more…..

Newsmax: Obama Health Plan to Cover 12 Million Illegals
On Friday, Democrats moved one step closer to giving free health insurance to the nation’s estimated 12 million illegal aliens when they successfully defeated a Republican-backed amendment, offered by Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., that would have prevented illegal aliens from receiving government-subsidized health care under the proposed plan backed by House Democrats and President Barack Obama.
The House Ways and Means Committee nixed the Heller amendment by a 26-to-15 vote along straight party lines, and followed this action by passing the 1,018-page bill early Friday morning by a 23-to-18 margin, with three Democrats voting against the plan. more…..

Donald Marron: House Bill Fails Budget Test
Lawmakers face more work if they want to pay for health reform. According to the latest analysis by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation, the House health bill fails two key budget tests:

  • New spending isn’t fully paid for. House committees haven’t identified enough spending reductions or tax increases to offset the spending. As a result, the bill would increase the deficit by $239 billion over the next ten years.
  • The bill would widen the structural deficit. CBO estimates, for example, that the program would increase the deficit by $65 billion in 2019, the final year of the budget window.

These budget challenges stem from the fact that the House bill would increase spending in two major ways: more…..

TARP Inspector General: Financial Bailout Support Could Top 23.7 Trillion Dollars
The total price tag for federal support stemming from the financial crisis could reach $23.7 trillion in the long run, the government’s top bailout watchdog says in a new report to Congress.
Neil Barofsky, the inspector general for the Troubled Asset Relief Program, plans to deliver his report Tuesday to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
The $23.7 trillion figure is admittedly a high-ball number and reflects the total potential gross exposure, but Barofsky in his prepared testimony notes that the TARP — which started as a $700 billion bailout — has expanded well beyond that. more…..

Cnation’s Picks For 7/16/2009 – A Government Drunk With Power

John Griffing: Enough Is Enough
Tyranny has sprung up from amongst us.  President Obama has waged a blitzkrieg on American liberty, and, in only a short time, undercut the Constitution of the United States with a brazen arrogance that should shock Americans into action.

President Obama’s unconstitutional salvo exceeds even the most intolerable indulgences of the Bush Administration.  President Bush was often brash and improper in his use of certain mechanisms, but President Obama has moved quickly far beyond the realm of comparatively benign Presidential Signing Statements. When our new President can appoint “Czars” to rule entire sections of American life without electoral accountability or even Congressional confirmation, we have entered the unholy realm of Dictatorship. more…..

Rep. John Carter: Pelosi Censors Republicans
Monday night Democrats voted to shut down the U.S. House Representatives rather than allow a handful of Republican Congressmen to speak on the floor. What could have been so offensive or frightening about our discourse that Speaker Pelosi felt she had to protect her party by gagging free speech in the House?

In fact, we had planned to speak on the lack of transparency of the House since Democrats took control. We had planned to criticize Speaker Pelosi for repeatedly denying Members, the media, and the public to right to read legislation before it was voted on. We were set to discuss House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s statement last week that if his Members were required to read the Democrats’ healthcare reform package before it was voted on, it would fail. more…..

The CBO today reported that the proposed healthcare reform bills currently making their way through congress will increase costs and further damage the economy.

Washington Post: Lawmakers Warned About Health Costs
CBO Chief Says Democrats’ Proposals Lack Necessary Controls on Spending
Congress’s chief budget analyst delivered a devastating assessment yesterday of the health-care proposals drafted by congressional Democrats, fueling an insurrection among fiscal conservatives in the House and pushing negotiators in the Senate to redouble efforts to draw up a new plan that more effectively restrains federal spending.
Under questioning by members of the Senate Budget Committee, Douglas Elmendorf, director of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, said bills crafted by House leaders and the Senate health committee do not propose “the sort of fundamental changes” necessary to rein in the skyrocketing cost of government health programs, particularly Medicare. On the contrary, Elmendorf said, the measures would pile on an expensive new program to cover the uninsured. more…..

House Healthcare Bill Outlaws Private Insurance

From Investors Business Daily:

It didn’t take long to run into an “uh-oh” moment when reading the House’s “health care for all Americans” bill. Right there on Page 16 is a provision When we first saw the paragraph Tuesday, just after the 1,018-page document was released, we thought we surely must be misreading it. So we sought help from the House Ways and Means Committee.

It turns out we were right: The provision would indeed outlaw individual private coverage.

This Is What Obamacare Looks Like

Yes, this chart is real. Go here for details.

Words escape me……they really think they’re going to get away with this. One thing I don’t see people picking up on or mentioning much is the fact that under the current proposals, every single one of us will be required forced to carry health care coverage or pay a fine to the federal government. Don’t want insurance? Tough shit for you. Pay up or go to jail.

And to even suggest that healthcare ‘reform’ won’t somehow include illegal aliens in some way, shape or form just goes to illustrate how stupid they think we are.

You f*ing idiots that voted for Obama, I hope you’re happy now. We told you what was going to happen….

This piece of information is encouraging. Keep the pressure on your representatives and make sure they understand their jobs are on the line unless they help shut this thing down.

AP sources: Obama wants Senate health bill quickly:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Moving forcefully on his top domestic priority, President Barack Obama told a powerful Senate chairman on Monday he wants health care legislation ready in the Finance Committee by week’s end, according to numerous Democratic officials.

These officials said Obama made his wishes known directly to Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., at a White House meeting attended by administration officials and senior Democratic lawmakers.

It was not immediately clear whether Obama expressed a preference for a bipartisan measure — which Baucus has been laboring over for months — or a bill tailored more to Democratic specifications.

Still, the virtual deadline underscored Obama’s determination to push initial legislation through both houses of Congress before lawmakers leave the Capitol in August for a vacation.

“Don’t bet against us. We are going to make this thing happen,” the president told reporters earlier in the day, fresh from an overseas trip that coincided with slippage in momentum for his top domestic priority. more…..

Notice the rush? Again? Obama knows damn well that each additional day this healthcare debacle is exposed to public scrutiny, the less chance he has of getting it passed as more and more of us begin to understand what’s really at stake – for starters, the end of private insurance, the loss of jobs, increased taxes, the ultimate bankruptcy of our nation (which just today passed the trillion-dollar deficit mark), and forced servitude at the hands of an out-of-control government.

Yes, I said ‘forced servitude’.

Main Entry: ser·vi·tude
Pronunciation: \ˈsər-və-ˌtüd, -ˌtyüd\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French servitute, from Latin servitudo slavery, from servus slave
Date: 15th century

1 : a condition in which one lacks liberty especially to determine one’s course of action or way of life
2 : a right by which something (as a piece of land) owned by one person is subject to a specified use or enjoyment by another

From the AP article:

The measure would spend billions of dollars subsidizing lower income individuals and families who cannot afford coverage, in an attempt to cut dramatically into the ranks of the uninsured.

To comply with another presidential priority, it would rely on cuts in Medicare and Medicaid to begin slowing the rate of growth in health care spending overall.

The measure is expected to impose a fee equal to 8 percent of a worker’s salary on large companies that fail to offer insurance or do not subsidize it at a high enough rate. Individuals also would have to pay a penalty if they refused to purchase affordable insurance.

If our government forces you to either ‘participate or pay’ in order to provide benefits for someone other than yourself  – which is exactly what they’re proposing here – (and face it, the non-contributor is exactly who this system is being designed for), but you then choose to do neither, you can bet the feds will haul your ass away in handcuffs. That is forced servitude.

Understand this: what this rogue president and congress is attempting to do with regards to nationalizing healthcare is absolutely 100 percent unconstitutional. The federal government does NOT have the authority to take over the healthcare and/or insurance industries or to provide healthcare/insurance to people at taxpayer expense, nor does it have the authority to force individuals or businesses into healthcare plans aganst their wishes.

The Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution reads:

“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Since the Constitution does not grant the federal government authority to provide for the healthcare of U.S. citizens, congress does not have the authority to do what they’re currently trying to do. Period. The states, however, do have that authority (Massachussettes is one state which does have universal healthcare, and it’s failing).

Yes, it really is just that simple. Unfortunately, and as wee all know by now, neither this president or this congress have any interest whatsoever in following or preserving the constitution, choosing instead to continue down the reckless path to socialism and the massive expansion of the welfare/dependent class.

From the AP article:

Despite objections from conservative and moderate Democrats, prospects for House action along the president’s timetable are better than in the Senate. There, majority Democrats are readying legislation, to be introduced as early as Tuesday, that would prohibit insurance companies from denying coverage or charging higher premiums on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions.

Like your current insurance? Kiss it goodbye, because this single provision will be the death of the private insurance industry, thereby leaving the federal government as the last man standing, and in complete control of your healthcare.

Why?

Imagine crashing your car, and then going out and buying collision insurance after the fact and expecting the insurance co. to pick up the tab for your accident (aka the preexisting condition). How many times do you think this scenario could play out before the insurance company closed its doors for good? Even if they wanted to stay open, they’d quickly go broke and be forced out of business.

Do you really think Obama and co. don’t understand this, that they don’t know exactly what they are doing?

This is a government out of control. This is a president actively and intentionally trying to bring down the greatest nation the world has ever known.

Call your senators. Call your congressmen. Every Single Day, and make them understand that if they support national healthcare in any form, it will be the end of their jobs.

To find your senators: A full list of senators searchable by name, state, or (and this is handy) when they’re up for reelection is here. Clicking on your senator’s name will take you directly to their website where you can find the phone and fax numbers of all their offices.

Weekend Roundup 7/13/2009

NRO: The Agenda and the Moment

Pres. Barack Obama has made a tactical mistake, one that is characteristic of the man. Suffering, as he plainly does, from a tendency toward self-aggrandizement, President Obama has undertaken to do too much at once, seeking a radical re-ordering of American life: legal, political, economic, constitutional, and cultural. In some of these endeavors he is likely to be successful. On several critical fronts, however, Obama’s overreach has given conservatives an opportunity to put a halt to the worst of the president’s contemplated excesses. It is crucial that conservatives — congressional Republicans in particular — do not squander the opportunity that has been set before them. more…..

Forced abortions. Mass sterilization. A “Planetary Regime” with the power of life and death over American citizens.
The tyrannical fantasies of a madman? Or merely the opinions of the person now in control of science policy in the United States? Or both?
These ideas (among many other equally horrifying recommendations) were put forth by John Holdren, whom Barack Obama has recently appointed Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, and Co-Chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology — informally known as the United States’ Science Czar.

Homeland Security Revises Immigration Plan, Limits Officers’ Power to Arrest Illegals

Revamped 287g Program Will Target Only Serious Crimes, not Minor Infractions; Sheriff Arpaio Refuses to Ease Up
The Department of Homeland Security said Friday it was revising a program that authorized local police to enforce federal immigration law — a controversial aspect of U.S. border policy.
Opponents said the program, known as 287g, was intended to identify criminal aliens but instead has led to racial profiling; it allowed local police to identify and arrest illegal immigrants for such minor infractions as a broken tail light. Program supporters said it has been an effective tool for combating illegal immigration.
The new guidelines sharply reduce the ability of local law enforcement to arrest and screen suspected illegal immigrants. more…..

Obama on stimulus: It’s worked great!

Obamaville City Limits
In Barack Obama’s world, married people with children regularly do pay $5,000 and $10,000 a year in property taxes, then shell out private school tuition at Francis Parker, the Latin School and the Lab School, all the while looking down their noses at the philistines who live in the suburbs.  In unguarded moments on the campaign trail, you could see some of Hyde Park’s disdain for suburban living.
Obama is starting to find out that suburban voters are going to balk at his proposals.  It began with the Tea Parties, a small city and suburban movement. It is continuing with protests on health care reform. Protest marches are unusual activities for middle class people with private sector jobs, who as a rule do not like messy politics.  But they will fight because unlike the situation Obama knew in Chicago, there is no alternative. more…..

The Road to Economic Demoralization – Washington is going the wrong way.
There’s no question that current government policies for taxes, spending, and regulation are causing the U.S. to lose competitiveness in the global race for capital, prosperity, and growth.
Of course, China has been moving in the direction of free-market capitalism for years. To some extent, this shows the positive benefits of America’s free-trade policies and its open-mindedness in helping nurture not only China growth, but also middle-class prosperity worldwide.
But what’s particularly galling about Obamanomics is that we may well be losing our competitive edge with Europe. While Europe is ever so slightly moving toward Reagan and Thatcher, the U.S. is shifting toward an overtaxed and overregulated model that smacks of François Mitterrand. That’s something no one should want to tolerate.

EPA Admits Cap-and-Trade Won’t Work
EPA Administrator Jackson confirmed an EPA analysis showing that unilateral U.S. action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions would have no effect on climate. Moreover, when presented with an EPA chart depicting that outcome, Energy Secretary Steven Chu said he disagreed with EPA’s analysis.
“I believe the central parts of the [EPA] chart are that U.S. action alone will not impact world CO2 levels,” Administrator Jackson said.
Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) presented the chart to both Jackson and Secretary Chu, which shows that meaningful emissions reductions cannot occur without aggressive action by China, India, and other developing countries. “I am encouraged that Administrator Jackson agrees that unilateral action by the U.S. will be all cost for no climate gain,” Sen. Inhofe said. “With China and India recently issuing statements of defiant opposition to mandatory emissions controls, acting alone through the job-killing Waxman-Markey bill would impose severe economic burdens on American consumers, businesses, and families, all without any impact on climate.”
