Hundreds of Obamabots Bussed In To Raleigh, NC Pro-Obamacare Rally

Update: Welcome Instapundit Readers!

In Raleigh, NC this morning, HCAN held a pro-Obamacare rally at the state capital. I was among a relatively small but vocal group of counterprotestors stationed across the street. At our peak, we numbered about 70, and most of us stayed through the entire event.

The pro-healthcare crowd was several hundred strong, and for good reason – they arrived in at least three and possibly 4 full-sized tour buses (see pics below). One of the buses came in from Wilmington, which is a couple of hours away, and while I have no idea where the others came from, they sure as hell weren’t from around here.

Two of the buses were parked right around the corner and down the block, so it was no big feat of detective work to follow the o-bots back to them at the rally’s end. The other two (that I saw) were parked in a lot another couple of blocks back, but I lost track of them after they pulled out so can’t say for certain if they were both O-bot vehicles. No matter though, two buses, four buses, whatever…. it’s just further proof that these pro-Obamacare organizers fear what their rallies would look like if they didn’t bring their own crowd.

Their rally was predictable – a few speakers whose job it was to play the emotional angle, a couple more telling the crowd why they deserved free healthcare, and the requisite incindiary black preacher-type who I was told but unable to confrm was president of the Durham NAACP chapter. This man in particular drew loud boos from our side of the street when he invoked the name of God in his insistence on free insurance on the backs of taxpayers. Real fire-and-brimstone crap from this guy, sort of like Rev. Wright without the overt racism.

Oh, and there were many, many identical pre-printed signs.

What struck me about the pro-obamacare crowd was how completely willing they were to disregard the consequences and realities of taxpayer-funded government-run healthcare. It was all about what they were entitled to, what they deserved, how the billionaire insurance companies were allowing them to die in the streets, etc, etc…a real mix of fantasy-land sensationalism and pie-in-the-sky nonsense. It really leads one to wonder – and I say this with absoutely no malice – just how tenouous a grasp on reality the bulk of these people have.

One in particular caught my attention (sorry, no pic) – this one guy spent a large portion of the rally facing and waving a dollar bill at us from across the street. Try as I may, I was totally unable to figure out what his point was. If the cops weren’t doing such a good job of keeping our two sides separated, I might have gone over to him and pointed out that the people looking for a handout were behind him, not in front of him.

Our people were awesome, of course. The signs were good and the passion strong. If I have one concern, it’s that we need to get better organized. This sentiment was shared by several other people I spoke with, and the general feeling was – based on turnout at past events – that if the communication had been better, we could have turned out significantly more people. This is something I am going straight to work on tonight.

A couple of personal notes: On the way back and forth between bus parking areas to get pictures of the O-bots ‘grassroots’ transportation after the rally’s end, I had a couple of interactions with some of the pro-reform people. The first one, an older black woman, was having trouble holding on to her armload of pro-obamacare signs on her way back to her car, dropping one in the process. As I passed, she asked if I could help her out and I did. She dropped another, and I got that one for her as well. Just two human beings who had both just minutes before been screaming at each other from different sides of the street, now pleasantly and peacefully interacting with each other. I was struck by the sheer normalcy of the moment. Yes, I left it alone.

A few minutes later, a small group of obamacare people walked past me in the opposite direction when one of the women, carrying a pro-reform sigh, said to me “can I get a thumbs-up?” I said “nope”, and kept on walking. After a few more paces though, I turned around and called over to her. When she turned around, I told her that I didn’t mean to be rude, and that however this healthcare disaster shakes that it will need to work for everyone. She said “me too, so how about a thumbs-up”, but I responded “not as long as you’re still carrying that sign”, and we went on our respective ways.

If there’s an aspect to this whole thing that I am having trouble dealing with, it’s how this administration’s far-left policies and aspirations have normal Americans choosing sides and at each others throats. At one crosswalk, it was me and about a half-dozen obamacare people and it was just….I dunno….weird. I don’t like having to size up my fellow citizens as friend or foe, but I guess that’s just where we’re at right now in Obama’s Amerika. I long for the day when the aforementioned ‘normalcy’ returns to our society, but I also know that those days may well be behind us.

No matter how troubling I find our current situation or how it weighs on me personally though, I will continue to fight for and defend what I know to be right, because it’s about so much more than just me. It’s about a future for my wife, my kids, my friends, family, city, state and country. It’s about joining with my fellow patriots to stomp out the flames of tyranny before they become a bonfire. It’s about restoring greatness to a nation being brought to its knees by an element -  fronted by a smooth-talking con man – whose goal is to take over industry, destroy capitalism and the free market, and to take from those who produce and contribute to give to those who do neither.

Next weekend I’ll be installing a new timing belt, water pump, crank and cam seals and valve cover gasket on my ancient Corolla in preparation for the trip to DC on September 12. A strong showing here can not only help kill  HR3200 (and HR676) once and for all, but put congress and the white house on notice that we will not be disregarded any more. Lest we forget, amnesty is next.

Fear and Loathing on The Left

The out-and-out lies are just flying out of Washington today, from the white house, congress, and now even the DNC. The uprising by the people over Obamacare and the out-of-control spending by this administration over the past six months is being portrayed as some sort of coordinated attack being funded by right-wing concerns.

From The Hill:

DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse brought out the heavy artillery in a lengthy statement issued late Tuesday blasting the GOP and enablers in interest groups for spurring the protests.

“The Republicans and their allied groups — desperate after losing two consecutive elections and every major policy fight on Capitol Hill — are inciting angry mobs of a small number of rabid right wing extremists funded by K Street Lobbyists to disrupt thoughtful discussions about the future of health care in America taking place in Congressional Districts across the country,” Woodhouse said in a statement.

To use an Obamaism, ‘Let me be clear”…..there has been no ‘thoughtful discussion’ by by our congressmen – at least not between them and us – but there has been elitist condescension by the boatload from these fuckers . Rather than give our concerns any serious consideration, they’ve been spending their time trying to figure out how to sell us on this pile of crap. They’re so far up Pelosi’s ass that they’ve forgotten that they work for us. No, I take that back, I think it’s more than that….I think they simply don’t care that they work for us. They know what’s best, and that’s that.

Too bad they weren’t counting on the backlash. They weren’t ready for it, they actually blew it off when it first started, and now they’re so freaked out at the sheer number of us standing up and fighting back that they don’t know whether to shit or wind their watches.

The DNC kills me. The left has for years been the absolute masters of disruptive protest, of getting out in the streets and in the faces of our elected officials – all to the benefit of the democrat party, I might add – that it must piss them off something terrible to see their own tactics being used so successfully by the opposition. The very suggestion that we’re funded by anyone is laughable. Have you seen our signs, fer chrissakes? Contrast the homemade and occasionally grammatically questionable signs found at the typical TEA party protest with the professionally printed signs, posters, banners and flyers you find at your basic ACORN/SEIU gimme-fests, complete with matching caps and t-shirts and then tell me who’s got the funding behind them.

Unlike the left, we’re not looking for a handout, a payday….free shit bestowed upon us by politicians in search of a vote. We’re out there in defense of our constitution and in opposition of a government that is drunk with power,  and well on its way to destroying our economy, our sovereignty, our future…..our very survival as a free people.

The white house today put out a request that they be notified in the event anyone sees or hears what they feel is ‘disinformation’ being spread about the proposed healthcare bills.

From the white house website:

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care.  These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation.  Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

Yes, that’s right. Our government wants volunteer informants to snitch on their fellow citizens for excercising their first amendment right to free speech. This is unbelievable.

This is what a dictator does. This is not what the president of the United States of America does. And if you still won’t acknowledge who and what Barack Obama really is, then you are a goddamned fool, and completely unworthy of the freedom and liberties you’re helping him destroy. And to think there was a time when I considered myself a liberal, that I actually related to the likes of you, makes me sick to my stomach.

This isn’t over. Oh, I think a healthcare bill will pass alright, but it will only serve to throw gasoline on the flames….and you can mark my words on that.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve been to a couple of tea parties and picketed my senator….apparently, someone owes me some money.

Bill Burton, Sleaziest Person in the Obama White House?

OK, ok, I know that the title of ‘sleaziest person in the Obama White House” is really about a 50-way tie, but deputy press secretary Bill Burton is a real piece of work…..the kind of guy who offends by his very presence, whose very demeanor says “yeah, I know I’m the biggest lying sack of shit you’ve ever seen – aside, of course, from the big guy – and you can’t do a thing about it’ … to the point that you just want to punch his lights out. To put it simply, Burton is pure 100% unadulterated Washington douchebag.

Watch this video of Burton being interviewed by Juan Williams (a lib I actually have a modicum of respect for) on O’Reilly this evening, lying through his teeth about cap and trade and healthcare, and tell me if his smug condescension doesn’t want to make you puke. On your way to the shower.

And then remember that this is who Barack Obama, your president, has chosen to speak for him to the press and the American people.

Carrie Prejean Loses Miss California Title

Carrie Prejean, Miss California 2009 and Runner-Up in the Miss USA Pageant, Fired

Carrie Prejean, Miss California 2009 and Runner-Up in the Miss USA Pageant, Fired

Carrie Prejean was fired today from the Miss California USA organization, reportedly for ‘breach of contract’.

My first thought was “breach of contract….sure thing. This is about the gay marriage issue”.

As you may remember, pageant officials and one very nasty little creep by the name of Perez Hilton went completely apeshit when Prejean answered a question (posed by Hilton) about her position on gay marriage by stating that she believes marriage is between a man and a woman. In the ensuing firestorm, one pageant official quit in protest, others publicly denounced Prejean’s position as outrageous, disgusting, and “totally out of touch’ with the spirit of the pageant, etc etc…, all culminating in Donald Trump’s decision on whether or not to keep her on. He did.

Anyway, based on all that, the logical assumption about her firing today would be that it stemmed from the gay marriage thing.

Then I read this transcript of an email exchange between miss Prejean and Miss California director Keith Lewis (Transcript courtesy Fox News):

Carrie,

The Style Network has asked to schedule a general meeting. Generals in the entertainment field are an opportunity for casting and producing executives to gain a better understanding of a potential talents range and demeanor in order to consider them for future projects. They are done without a specific agenda. I have had great success with my actors who have taken generals and would suggest you give it strong consideration. You never know where it may lead and sometimes they develop entire shows around you. The following days are available to meet with them here in LA. Please let me know as soon as possible if any of them work for you.

Best regards,

Keith Lewis

Carrie,

Although I do not agree with your directive nor is this letter an indication of our intent to waive our contract rights, we do not want to escalate the situation with you. In good faith, we will simply ask that you provide us all of the details so that we can block it in on our master calendar. We would also want to get the contact information should something come up – like you become missing after the event or you are in an accident before the event and need us to reach out for you. It is for your safety and our responsibility.

Best regards,

Ok then I expect you to provide security per my request like you agreed to provide

Well….look, I would say this looks bad for miss Prejean…in fact, it makes her look like exactly the type of self-centered prima donna that is the beauty queen stereotype. Judging by the “Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T” at the bottom of each of her messages though, this transcript was obviously captured and leaked/released by the recipient of her messages, which means the entire exchange may well have been a setup by Keith Lewis and the pageant people; whatever the case, you can be sure that Mr Lewis was undoubtedly on his best behavior here.

More importantly though, based on reports from Fox, CNN and others, it seems at this point that the ‘breach of contract’ claim is legit.

I’ve supported Carrie Prejean from day 1, and am really pretty bummed to see the situation take this kind of turn.

Unhinged Liberals Blaming Pandemic Threat On…..Republicans?

Unbelievably (even by liberal standards), left-wing nutjobs are blaming the possibility of a swine flu pandemic on the Republicans.

I’m not going to provide a link because to do so might give the impression of credibility to the sources, but all the usual suspects have weighed in – the Huffington Post, the Daily Kos, democratic Underground, etc, etc…

In typical liberal fashion though, not one of them has admitted so far that one of their own, namely Chuck Schumer, was also against pandemic funding. back in february, he said this in regards to pandemic funding in the stimulus bill:

“All those little porky things that the House put in, the money for the [National] Mall or the sexually transmitted diseases or the flu pandemic, they’re all out,”…

From Michelle Malkin: Schumer opposed flu pandemic funding in stimulus, too, you morons
Sorry to interrupt all the liberal blogosphere’s unhinged GOP-bashing over conservative opposition to flu pandemic funding in the porkulus bill, but…more……

Carrie Prejean is a Patriot

Carrie Prejean, Patriot

Carrie Prejean, Patriot

I’m going to beat O’Reilly to the punch on this one:

Miss California, Carrie Prejean, is a patriot.

For the record, I could care less about beauty pageants or the women who participate in them. However, this was something special.

Carrie Prejean is a young woman from San Diego, California, and a contestant in the 2009 Miss USA pageant.

Apparently, at some point during the judging process there’s a question and answer session between the judges and contestants, and Miss Prejean had the misfortune of being asked a loaded question by gay sleazebag gossip columnist Perez Hilton, who we find sticking his agenda – among other things – where it doesn’t belong. Here is their exchange:

Perez Hilton: “Vermont recently became the 4th state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit. Why or why not?

Prejean: “Well,  I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be between a man and a woman. Thank you very much.”

Contrary to what the leftie sites are reporting, the crowd cheered wildly. (Youtube link here)

Well, unless you just got off a really slow boat from China, you know where this is going.  Pageant directors were ‘upset’ and ‘offended’. Perez Hilton, in a classic display of liberal tolerance, called Miss Prejean a “dumb bitch”. Not to her face though (displaying, of course, some of that legendary liberal courage…)

Later, Miss Prejean was quoted as saying:

“It did cost me my crown,” Prejean continued. “It is a very touchy subject and [Hilton] is a homosexual, and I see where he was coming from and I see the audience would’ve wanted me to be more politically correct. But I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything.”

“I feel like I won,” she said. “I feel like I’m the winner. I really do.”

That, ladies and gentlemen, is a strong, courageous woman right there. My personal opinion of beauty contests aside, these women work incredibly hard and sacrifice so much of their young lives to the pursuit of the pageant crown. She had to know that her answer would doom her chances before she gave it. But instead of caving in and regurgitating some half-hearted politically-correct answer that may have kept her in the show, she stayed true to her beliefs and gave the only answer she could.

Did her politically-incorrect answer take her out of the running? Probably. But I’ll bet my last dollar that Miss Prejean, like any good person of faith and conviction, will sleep well tonight knowing she did the right thing.

Update: Michelle Malkin reports that not only did Hilton retract his apology (apparently, he apologized sometime today…), but then went on to refer to Miss Prejean as a “c-word”.

What kind of world do we live in when guys like Hilton matter?

Liberal Campus Thugs & Thugettes Shut Down Tancredo Speech at UNC Chapel Hill

Another example of the party of ‘tolerance’ demonstrating that they are, without a shred of a doubt, the most intolerant people in America. Freedom of speech, rational debate and discussion, the free exchange of ideas on a college campus? Are you kidding? The only ‘free speech’ these sheltered, cowardly, know-nothing suburban fascists believe in is speech that is in agreement with their beliefs.

Sounds a lot like radical Islam, doesn’t it?

ACORN To ‘Assist’ With 2010 Census

obama_acorn_275What do you do with an organization whose members have multilpe indictments and convictions across the country on charges including federal election fraud, identity theft, filing false registrations, submitting a false signatures, and which has a lengthy history of fraudulent  activity related to voter registration?

Apparently, in in Obama’s Amerika, you put them to work for the 2010 Census.

According to Fox News:

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now signed on as a national partner with the U.S. Census Bureau in February 2009 to assist with the recruitment of the 1.4 million temporary workers needed to go door-to-door to count every person in the United States — currently believed to be more than 306 million people.

First, Obama tries to hijack control of the Census from the Department of Commerce, and now ACORN, a thoroughly corrupt far-left organization with whom Obama has close ties, will have a role in recruiting those who will do the actual counting of our population.

(Here is a piece from the New York Times on the importance of the Census).

This cannot be allowed to stand. However, there’s no point in arguing why ACORN should not be allowed to participate in the census. Make no mistake, the myriad reasons that should disqualify ACORN are the very same reasons that this corrupt Chicago-thug administration wants them.
