Once Again, Media Silent On Race Of Perps

You know, I really don’t want to dwell on this subject, but with each passing day it just seems to get more and more blatant – the media, in their ever-expanding quest to replace truth and accuracy in reporting with political correctness, just cannot bring themselves to report on the racial makeup of individuals, or groups of individuals, involved in crimes.

Case in point: Mayfair Mall, located in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, had a situation this past Sunday (1/2/2011) in which somewhere between 100 and 200 ‘youths’ stormed the mall, ransacked at least one store (mannequins and clothing racks thrown around in the Boston Store), fired guns outside the mall, and generally terrorized mall employees and customers before finally being brought under control by mall security and police.

During the melee, several stores closed their security gates, trapping customers inside.

Once secured, the mall closed early.

If you were to read this story in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Online, you would have no idea who these ‘youths’ were. In neither of the two stories (Mayfair Mall closes early after tumult and Mayfair considering changes after teens storm mall) published about this incident was the race of the perpetrators mentioned. However, this picture pretty much confirms what you might already suspect:

'Youths' shut down Milwaukee shopping mall

'Youths' shut down Milwaukee area shopping mall

From the first Journal Sentinel story:

Sisters-in-law Kathy and Debbie Bellini were shopping when they heard at least one shot outside the mall.

“It kind of scared me,” said Kathy Bellini as she stood at a bus stop at the north end of the mall with Abercrombie & Fitch shopping bags.

Rubina Shafi was shopping at Boston Store with her mother, and while she was in a dressing room, a group of teens became unruly.

When Shafi, who was visiting from New York, tried to leave the mall through the Boston Store doors, she discovered she was locked in.

Shafi said a Boston Store clerk told her that the incident occurred after a girl was accused of retail theft and the fracas spilled over into Boston Store.

“Her friends followed her and the security guard into the store, screaming, barking, yelling, and knocking over racks and displays. We were invited to stay and continue shopping,” Shafi said in an e-mail. “But we decided to leave through the exit where police guards surrounded the building. The salespeople who stuck around were immensely professional and comforting as well.”

Journal Sentinel commenter macita18 had this to say:

One of my family members runs a store in Mayfair and they were present for the events yesterday. They are trying to get out of the lease since thugs like this are causing the decline of business and many workers do not feel safe coming to or leaving work. The mall has been getting worse over the past few years.

Mall security? It’s a joke. I’m 27 years old and was carded a few months ago. I hardly look under 18. Meanwhile, there was a bunch of wanna be gangsters walking by cussing up a storm, pushing each other into paying customers, and frankly, just there to create problems, not shop. Did any security approach them to tell them to knock it off? Of course not.

I would hope this would be a wake up call to Mayfair to enact some changes.

We as a society will never be able to fix anything, anything, until such time as we can stop pretending things aren’t what they really are. We start facing our problems with honesty, resolve and courage, or we keep right on down this path to our ultimate social destruction.

Dear CNN: You Suck.

So there I was watching the Coons / O’Donnell debate on CNN (had to refer to the channel guide to figure out where they keep CNN), marveling not only at what a completely unlikeable, condescending jerk this Coons guy is, but also at what a tremendous job Christine O’Donnell is doing exposing him for the metrosexual marxist beta male O-bot he is while also fending off a clearly hostile female moderator and an occasionally combative Wolf Blitzer.

Long story short, she was kicking major ass. Major ass. In a stacked debate And looking/sounding smart, competent and prepared while doing it.

Clearly not the way it was supposed to go.

So what does CNN do? Cut from the debate, which was supposed to run in its entirety, over to the “client #9 and faux-conservative hack reporter show“.

Fucking douchebags.

Anyway… O’Donnell was great. Much better than I expected. Considering the interest this race and tonight’s debate had/has in Delaware, I’ll be surprised if the polls don’t tighten more than just a little bit over the coming weeks – partly from O’Donnell gaining new support, and partly from Coons losing support. He had a lot of support from female voters, and I suspect his performance tonight will cause a number of them to bid him farewell.

In a sane state, O’Donnell could pull this off. I’m sending her some money right now. You should too.

In response to this story by AP ‘reporter’ Christina Hoag, in which she rails against alleged racist incidents at college campuses but fails to mention that the perpetrators of at least two of them were members of the minority groups themselves:

—–

The author of this reprehensible piece of ‘journalism’, Christina Hoag, should be ashamed of herself for her blatant and intentional – since there’s no way she couldn’t know the whole story – misrepresentation of the types of situations she claims to be reporting on. In almost all cases, the offending item (noose/swastika/spray-painted racial slur, etc…) has been shown to have been placed by a member of the target minority themselves as a way to garner sympathy for their ‘plight’.

Ms. Hoag won’t tell you, for example, that the UC San Diego noose was planted by a (unspecified) minority female, while the ‘compton cookout‘ was organized by a black man.

Why? Because it won’t fit the narrative of Hoag and her ilk that the white man is the biggest single perpetrator of racism among us.

The fact, glaringly obvious to anyone capable of honest analysis, is that nothing is further from the truth.

The overwhelming majority of racism in this country emanates from the very people who cry about it the loudest….who also happen to be the very same people who view every person and every situation in terms of race. It’s always race first. Before character. Before merit. Before accomplishment.

It is a disgraceful situation that will continue to tear our country apart unless the people – you know, us -  and our elected representatives develop the spine to say ‘No More”. And, of course, until responsible news organizations throw agenda-driven hacks like Ms. Hoag out onto the street where they belong.

Politicizing Murder: Wrong No Matter Who Does It

Amy Bishop, UAH Shooter

Amy Bishop, UAH Shooter

Ever since Obama won the presidential election and the Democrats assumed full power, there has been a seemingly never-ending string of events, comments, gaffes, and situations from the left which have passed by virtually unnoticed by the media and blogosphere, any of which would have caused major shitstorms had they come from the right. From the Rangel/Reich discussion of keeping white males from taking stimulus-funded jobs, to the President palling around with domestic terrorists and felons, to Harry Reid’s “negro dialect‘ comment of a few weeks ago…it goes on and on, usually to the refrain of “can you imagine if a conservative had done/said that?”

On the flip side, it’s also not the least bit uncommon to see the left take the slightest, most innocuous little thing done or said by a conservative/republican and blow it w-a-y out of proportion (ie the Palin hand notes thing), very often reaching and perpetuating outlandish conclusions not even remotely grounded in fact, or to find and highlight a connection, no matter how slight, between a person who’s done something heinous and conservative efforts/personalities. Like this. It happens all the time; the conservative blogs have gotten very good at calling out those who would misrepresent a given situation, and setting the record straight.

Unfortunately, some conservative bloggers have actually begun employing the very same tactics, and that is what I am writing about this evening.

By now, everyone knows about Dr. Amy Bishop, the University of Alabama in Huntsville biology professor who killed three of her colleagues and wounded three others this past Friday during a faculty meeting.

Earlier this evening, Glenn Reynolds posted about something he found at the web site ratemyprofessors.com, where some anonymous poster – presumably one of her college students – stated that Bishop was a socialist:

This class was great. Bishop makes the class interesting by talking about her research and her friends research. That speaker she had for class was hard to understand but smart. She expects alot and you need to come to every class and study. She is hot but she tries to hide it.And she is a socalist but she only talks about it after class.

Reynolds’ point as I understood it was that if there had been something in Bishop’s past that had linked her to conservatism, the TEA party movement, etc…, the connection would probably have been trotted out and used by the left-wing blogosphere and/or media in some manner to disparage the right.  He was not, by any stretch, using the ratemyprofessor post as evidence that the shooter actually was a socialist.

While one might question the need to even bring it up in the first place, I don’t believe Reynolds’ intent was malicious.

But then we have Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit. I’ll state for the record that I read his site pretty much every day and often post direct links to his articles. His sensationalist streak is well-known to his readers, but his information is usually high enough quality to overlook the melodrama. Tonight though, he crossed the line.

Here’s the headline from Gateway Pundit:

Socialist Professor Amy Bishop Who Killed 3 Profs Yesterday Shot & Killed Her Brother in 1986 …UPDATE: Dem Rep. Delahunt Made Call to Release Bishop in 1986!

Is this what we’re doing now, taking the unsubstantiated statement of some anonymous college kid from the ratemyprofessors website and posting it as pure, uncontested fact? Isn’t this exactly the same type of thing we give the lefties hell over?

Hoft has been around long enough to know better, but instead ran full speed ahead with his “Socialist Professor” headline in what can only be described as an incredibly reckless and irresponsible manner, especially considering the considerable size of his readership. To make matters worse however, the headline has now been picked up and run verbatim by other so-called conservative bloggers who seemingly lack the intellectual capacity to recognize the problem with the headline, and who are apparently too lazy to perform any fact-checking of their own.

There is no excuse for any of this. As a conservative blogger, I am both embarrassed and ashamed at the events that are transpiring this evening.

It’s bad enough when the left does it, but we’ve learned expect it from them (OK, not all of them, but enough). That’s why, by and large, they have the credibility problems they do. We do -not- need this from our own side, and we should therefore be just as hard if not harder on so-called conservatives who find it acceptable to spread this type of unsubstantiated sensationalistic bullshit. It undermines our credibility across the board and should not be tolerated, no matter how well-respected the source.

I haven’t even touched on the sheer repulsiveness of politicizing these murders in the first place, but suffice it to say that I find it unconscionable, and so should you.

Let us not forget that three families will be burying their dead in the coming weeks. They, the victims who’ve survived, the children of the shooter…all whose lives were touched by this senseless tragedy can use our prayers.

American Thinker: The Jihad Decade Cometh

And so successful was the Left at infiltrating our government, schools, and institutions that eight years after the most heinous attack on American soil, we elected an icon of our mortal enemy. A Kenyan, Indonesian, third-worldish boulevardier with as much understanding of the American experience as any foreign national. Don’t call me a racist for calling him what he is — I am not interested in the color of his skin, but in the content of his character. His lack of experience in all relevant areas to the office of the president is breathtaking. And his bowing to Islam and our enemies worldwide is disastrous.

Bush’s premise was false, but Bush was a patriot. Bush loved America, and he protected America, even if he refused to see the enemy for who and what it was. It was no accident that America was safe for eight years post-9/11. Eight years of safety is cracking apart now under a weak and pro-Islamic president. The jihadi attacks on America in 2009 were staggering. And it has only just begun. Dismantling the Bush protections against jihad and launching attacks on Americans, bloggers, tea partiers, town hallers, patriots, and vets is incomprehensible — and if I hadn’t lived through it, I wouldn’t believe it possible. more…..

Byron York: Key Democrats and Republicans give Napolitano vote of confidence

Appearing on ABC’s “This Week,” Sen. Joseph Lieberman, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee, was asked if Napolitano is the right person for the job. “Yes, she is,” Lieberman answered. On the same program, Sen. Susan Collins, the committee’s ranking Republican, was asked if she has confidence in Napolitano. “I do,” Collins answered.

“I will say that her initial comments were bizarre and inappropriate,” Collins added. “It baffled me that she said that the system worked very, very smoothly when clearly it did not. Nevertheless, I believe that Secretary Napolitano is working very hard, and she will cooperate with our efforts to ensure that these breaches will not happen again.” more…..

Janet Napolitano has proven time and again that she is unfit for the job of Homeland Security Secretary. She has all but shut down workplace enforcement of immigration laws (despite her blatantly and demonstrably false claims to have actually increased workplace enforcement), weakened overall interior enforcement, emasculated border security, and then came out the other day after a jihadist detonated a bomb aboard an airplane carrying 278 passengers, and said that “the system worked“.

Remember, the bomb was detonated. The only reason those 278 passengers aren’t dead is because the bomb didn’t work properly.

Lieberman…I know, good guy and all that, but if he can openly support such a blazingly incompetent and dangerous woman as Janet Napolitano, he needs to go. As for Susan Collins, it is a mystery to me why the good people of Maine would continue to support her, as she continues to disgrace both the republican party and her country.

Politico: Democrats’ worst nightmare: Terrorism on their watch

From the time he launched his campaign for president three years ago, Barack Obama had to consider how he would react to the first serious act of terrorism during the campaign, or if he won, on his watch. His fellow Democrats had been thinking about the moment even longer – since the September day in 2001 when attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon defined George W. Bush’s presidency and gave Republicans a decisive advantage on a defining political issue.

And yet the White House’s response to last week’s attempt to blow up a Northwest Airlines flight to Detroit could rank as one of the low points of the new president’s first year. Over the course of five days, Obama’s Obama’ reaction ranged from low-keyed to reassuring to, finally, a vow to find out what went wrong. The episode was a baffling, unforced error in presidential symbolism, hardly a small part of the presidency, and the moment at which yet another of the old political maxims that Obama had sought to transcend – the Democrats’ vulnerability on national security – reasserted itself. more…..

Red State: Barack Obama’s Vulnerabilities Will Get Us All Killed

Within twenty-four hours of the terrorist trying to blow up the plane, the White House was giving briefings by a “Senior Administration Official” who mostly like was Obama, Axelrod, or Jarrett, pointing out that the terrorist watch list was created by the Bush administration.

Then the White House Counsel’s Office sent out a memo demanding any and all documentation to show that the Bush administration had done worse.

Then the White House decided it needed to look into the “systemic failures” of the operation that George Bush had put in place.

234 days into George W. Bush’s first contentious year in office, four planes were hijacked and used as missiles to strike the United States. Shortly thereafter, Richard Reid tried to blow up another jet.

George Bush never tried to disown 9/11 or Richard Reid. He never tried to say, “hey, it was Clinton’s problem.” Sure, in fact, a lot of what led to 9/11 happened on Bill Clinton’s watch and he failed in most every measure to shut down Al Qaeda. But after 9/11, George Bush didn’t spend his first day, second day, or third day blaming Clinton. He set out to destroy Al Qaeda. more…..

Matrk Steyn: Obamacare is the fast-track to a permanent left-of-center political culture.

Last week, during a bit of banter on Fox News, my colleague Jonah Goldberg reminded me of something I’d all but forgotten. Last September, during his address to Congress on health care, Barack Obama declared: “I am not the first President to take up this cause, but I am determined to be the last.”

Washington Examiner: Here’s the real story on America’s unemployment

One of the ways we kid ourselves is calling our unemployment rate 10 percent. In government-speak that’s the “U-3″ number, which counts just current job seekers. That’s the “U-6″ number, a more recent U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics metric. Today it’s more than 17 percent, which means real unemployment is approaching one in five Americans. And, yes, that’s a (post-Depression) record. more…..

Roemer — asked if the recession is over — said, “”Of course not. Gateway Pundit: Fistgate II: High School Students Given “Fisting Kits” At Kevin Jennings’ GLSEN Conference (Photo)

In March 2000 the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) organization of Massachusetts held its 10 Year Anniversary GLSEN/Boston conference at Tufts University. We, as customers, have every right to support companies who share our values, or who, at the very least don’t spit on them. But none of them look good for the Obama administration or for Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.’s Justice Department.

…”Holder and them have done a terrible job on this,” [Rep. Frank Wolf] told The Washington Times. “This has just been handled so poorly…. You can’t hide these things. There is something wrong here. There is something very wrong. When it all comes out, I think it will be very bad.” more…..

Senate Health Bill: Verification Loopholes Will Allow Illegal Aliens to Access Benefits

FAIR’s Government Relations team has just finalized a Legislative Analysis of the Senate health care reform bill (H.R. 3590) and its impact on immigration. As with FAIR’s previous analysis of the House health care bill, FAIR’s analysis of the Senate bill discussed three key immigration related issues: (1) changes to current law that would circumvent the provision of current law that requires legal aliens to wait five years before they can access certain taxpayer-funded health benefits; (2) the existence of verification loopholes that would allow illegal aliens to access these benefits; and (3) language that would not effectively prevent illegal aliens from accessing the taxpayer-subsidized “Exchange” marketplace.

This report discusses how Americans are facing the worst job market in 25 years and points out that the passage of amnesty legislation would allow the approximately 8.3 million illegal aliens who are part of the American workforce to keep jobs they should never have had.

A report to be released by FAIR later this week reveals that, since taking office, President Obama has undermined nearly every immigration enforcement measure available to him. Entitled The Road to Amnesty, the report notes that, since winning the 2008 election, President Obama has systematically surrounded himself with individuals who support granting amnesty to millions of illegal aliens living in the United States. The report highlights ten separate statements from members of the Obama administration including the president himself indicating that this administration supports amnesty and will attempt to push legislation through Congress in 2010.

Illegal Immigration Hurts Maryland Families When They Can Least Afford It

This week FAIR released simultaneous studies that document the true costs of illegal immigration in Maryland and demonstrate strong voter objections to the burdens placed on them by illegal immigration. (The Costs of Illegal Immigration to Marylanders; English Learners and Immigration: A Case Study of Prince George’s County, Maryland). According to The Costs of Illegal Immigration to Marylanders, the price tag associated with providing education, health care, and incarceration of criminal illegal aliens is at least $1.4 billion a year. The impact of this staggering cost has not gone unnoticed by Maryland voters. A new Pulse Opinion Research Poll of 1,000 likely voters across the state found that, by a large margin, Marylanders believe that illegal immigration is harming their state.

FOX: Decorated WWII Veteran, 90, Fights HOA to Raise Flag in His Yard

A veteran of three wars who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor is now facing an unlikely enemy — his neighbors.

Col. Van T. Barfoot, 90, has raised the Stars and Stripes every day at sunrise and lowered them every day at sunset since he served in the U.S. Army. But on Tuesday he received a letter from the law firm that represents his homeowners’ association, ordering him to remove the flagpole from his Richmond, Va. yard by 5 p.m. on Friday or face “legal action.”

SLIDESHOW: Medal of Honor Winner Col. Van Barfoot

The homoeowners’ association at Sussex Square community told Barfoot that the freestanding, 21-foot flagpole that he put up in September violates the neighborhood’s aesthetic guidelines.

Barfoot had sought permission to install the pole shortly after he moved into the community — a complex of townhouses where the grounds are community property — last June. The board denied his request in July.

But Barfoot and his family say there is no provision in Sussex Square’s rules that forbids erecting flagpoles. And for Barfoot, that’s a cause worth fighting for. more…..

I was going to post the phone number for the HOA, but they apparently had it disconnected this afternoon. Instead, here is the phone number for the President and director of the HOA, Glenn and Evelyn Wilson: 804-741-9160

Please, be respectful, but do let them know in no uncertain terms that their treatment of Col. Barfoot is unacceptable.

Human Events: Media Ignores Navy SEALs for Tiger Woods

The Mainstream Media can’t get enough of Tiger Woods’ marital woes, the fallout from Adam Lambert’s sexually suggestive act at the American Music Awards and those publicity hungry White House party crashers.  Those same outlets can’t be bothered to tell the story of charges filed against three Navy SEALs who captured the supposed mastermind behind the slaughter of four Blackwater security guards in Fallujah five years ago.

The SEALs in question who captured Ahmed Hashim Abed — Matthew McCabe, Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe and Petty Officer Julio Huertas — are accused of bloodying his lip after apprehending him. Instead of being held up as an example of military heroism, the men will face a court martial proceeding.more…..

Washington Examiner: Who’s who on climate fraud

In 1912, a respected paleontologist at the British Museum confirmed that bones found in a Piltdown quarry came from the “missing link” between apes and humans. Forty years later, the so-called Piltdown Man was proved to be a hoax. Thanks to purloined e-mails from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit (CRU), global warming is turning out to be the 21st-century equivalent of Piltdown Man.

E-mails between a small group of highly influential climate scientists at the center of the worldwide panic over global warming exposed multiple discussions among them concerning their manipulation of data and using various evasive tactics to avoid releasing the facts behind their ginned-up numbers to the public via Freedom of Information Act requests.

Here’s a rogue’s gallery of five major perpetrators of what’s turning out to be the biggest scientific hoax in modern history: more…..

WRAL.com (AP) : Senate Democrats vote to keep over $400 billion Medicare cuts in health bill

Casting its first votes on revamping the nation’s health care system, the Senate rejected a Republican bid Thursday to stave off Medicare cuts and approved safeguards for coverage of mammograms and other preventive tests for women. The first round of votes ended with a fragile Democratic coalition hanging together.

Senators voted 58-42 to reject an amendment by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., that would have stripped more than $400 billion in Medicare cuts from the nearly $1 trillion measure. It would have sent the entire 2,074-page bill back to the Senate Finance Committee for a redo.

Republicans said the proposed cuts to health insurance plans and medical providers mean seniors in the popular Medicare Advantage program will lose benefits. And they predicted lawmakers will ultimately back away from the cuts, once seniors start feeling the brunt.

“Medicare is already in trouble. The program needs to be fixed, not raided to create another new government program,” said Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky. more…..

NRO: Somebody at Fort Hood Should Be Walking the Plank

“What on earth is this government doing, and will Congress please do something about it?”

It’s been brought to my attention by several reliable sources that the Defense Department has brought Louay Safi to Fort Hood as an instructor, and that he has been lecturing on Islam to our troops in Fort Hood who are about to deploy to Afghanistan. Safi is a top official of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), and served as research director at the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT).

Worse, last evening, Safi was apparently permitted to present a check (evidently on behalf of ISNA) to the families of the victims of last month’s Fort Hood massacre. A military source told the blogger Barbarossa at the Jawa Report: “This is nothing short of blood money. This is criminal and the Ft. Hood base commander should be fired right now.” more…..

Hot Air: Video: Obama ready to talk this economy back to life, baby; Update: Speech on the economy coming next week

In fairness, today wasn’t totally useless. The One finally admitted that his “shovel-ready” talking point is itself, shall we say, shovel-ready. And more importantly, he got out in front of tomorrow’s big news, which, if JP Morgan is correct, will show unemployment up another two ticks in November to 10.4 percent. Between that and the “stunning” report tonight that consumer sales declined slightly last month after being expected to grow between five and eight percent, he simply can’t afford not to be seen as proactive anymore. Even if his “proactivity” consists of gabbing with Paul Krugman in front of a pair of mikes and a couple of cans of Shasta. more…..
