Politico: Health reform’s hidden land mines

After all the controversy over the public option, people might think that everyone can sign up right away if Congress passes health reform.
Or that insurance premiums will go down.
Or that they’ll be able to shop around for insurance if they don’t like what their company offers.

ABC News: Exclusive: Jobs ‘Saved or Created’ in Congressional Districts That Don’t Exist

Here’s a stimulus success story: In Arizona’s 15th congressional district, 30 jobs have been saved or created with just $761,420 in federal stimulus spending. At least that’s what the Web site set up by the Obama administration to track the $787 billion stimulus says.
There’s one problem, though: There is no 15th congressional district in Arizona; the state has only eight districts.  more…..

Big Government: ACORN Still Owes $2.3 Million in Overdue Taxes

ACORN and its affiliates are content to impose crippling big-government laws, regulations, and taxes on Americans, but when called upon to obey those same rules, ACORN’s network of scofflaws and deadbeats simply refuses to comply.

Washington Examiner: The ‘Making YOU Pay’ tax credit

President Obama’s “Making Work Pay” tax credit was an idea he first set forward during his presidential campaign. Unfortunately, it will soon take many Americans unawares and hurt some financially.

The credit has been administered as part of the stimulus package through a reduction in tax-withholding from workers’ paychecks. But the reduced withholding, which began quietly this April, might cause up to 15 million Americans to underpay the IRS even though they did nothing wrong. more…..

WASHINGTON — More than 15 million taxpayers could unexpectedly owe taxes when they file their federal returns next spring because the government was too generous with their new Making Work Pay tax credit.

Taxpayers are at risk if they have more than one job, are married and both spouses work, or receive Social Security benefits while also earning taxable wages, according to a report Monday by the Treasury Department’s inspector general for tax administration. more…..

Cnation’s Picks for 11/10/2009

“Non-believers should be beheaded and have boiling oil poured down their throats”

-Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan

…..

Did Political Correctness Kill 14 in Fort Hood?

From the New Hampshire Union Leader:

PC’d to death: The Army must give answers

Did 13 American soldiers die at Fort Hood because officers were afraid of appearing insensitive to Muslims?

In 2001, the alleged shooter, Nidal Hasan, apparently attended a Virginia mosque led by a radical cleric — the same mosque attended by two of the 9/11 hijackers. He openly opposed the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan because the United States was fighting Muslims. A doctor who studied with Hasan recalled him justifying suicide bombings and accusing the United States of waging war against Islam.

“His fellow students complained to the faculty about Hasan’s ‘anti-American propaganda,’ but said a fear of appearing discriminatory against a Muslim student kept officers from filing a formal written complaint,” The Associated Press reported over the weekend.

U.S. intelligence officials knew that Hasan had tried to contact al-Qaida, ABC News reported on Monday.

Patriotic Muslims have given and continue to give valuable service to this country. That is not the question the Fort Hood shooting raises. The question is whether kowtowing to political correctness prevented the Army from expelling a known enemy within its ranks. At the moment, that appears to be the case.

…………….

WSJ: Dr. Phil and the Fort Hood Killer

To those not terrorized by fear of offending Muslim sensitivities, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan’s motive was instantly clear: It was an act of terrorism by a man with a record of expressing virulent, anti-American, pro-jihadist sentiments. All were conspicuous signs of danger his Army superiors chose to ignore.

What is hard to ignore, now, is the growing derangement on all matters involving terrorism and Muslim sensitivities. Its chief symptoms: a palpitating fear of discomfiting facts and a willingness to discard those facts and embrace the richest possible variety of ludicrous theories as to the motives behind an act of Islamic terrorism. All this we have seen before but never in such naked form. The days following the Fort Hood rampage have told us more than we want to know, perhaps, about the depth and reach of this epidemic. more…..

American Thinker: Ignoring Infiltration

…why confuse ourselves with facts? The narrative has been set: the problem involves not killers shooting innocents for pathological reasons, but nonexistent mobs running the streets of America, waving ropes and looking for anyone wearing a dishdash. It’s not Islamists who are responsible, but us: America and the people who inhabit it. The great thing about multiculturalism is that it can be cut down, trimmed, reshaped, and refurbished to fit anything. Here, it has been reworked to serve as the cover for the murder of thirteen servicemen and the maiming of thirty-odd others. And we’re supposed to sit back and nod and say, “Obama knows best. If anything’s wrong, Obama will tell us.”

It will turn out to be the army’s fault. They simply didn’t “adapt” themselves to Hasan’s needs. more…..

Ralph Peters: Deadly Denial

We’ve already learned that Islamist terrorist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan attended the Northern Virginia mosque of Imam Anwar al-Aulaqi, a fiery al Qaeda supporter who later fled the United States. We know that Hasan’s peers, subordinates and patients repeatedly raised red flags that his superiors suppressed. We know he was a player on Islamist-extremist Web sites. The FBI’s uncovering one extremist link after another. But to call this an act of terrorism, the White House would need an autographed photo of Osama bin Laden helping Hasan buy weapons in downtown Killeen, Texas. Even that might not suffice. more…..

Forbes: Going Muslim

America differentiates itself on integration from Western European countries, which are far more cringing and guilt-driven in their approach. But can the American swagger persist if many Americans come genuinely to view Muslims as Fifth Columnists? The integration compact depends on a broad trust that the immigrant’s desire to be American can happily co-exist with his other forms of racial/cultural/religious identity. Once that trust doesn’t exist, America faces a problem in need of urgent resolution.

Have we reached that point of breakdown in trust? Not yet, I think, and not by some distance; but a few more murderous incidents of the Maj. Hasan variety–a few more shouts of “Allahu Akbar” as Americans are shot dead–will push many Americans on to a dangerous cusp. more…..

Verum Serum: Connecting the Dots on Hasan’s Imam: Anwar al-Awlaki

Anwar al-Awlaki is the imam who, as we reported here first on Sunday, praised Nidal Hasan as a hero for killing 13 unarmed people at Fort Hood. Believed to be residing in Yemen possibly working as a recruiter for al qaeda, al-Awlaki is also known as the imam from the Dar Al-Hijrah mosque in Great Falls, VA. The mosque is best known as the place where two of the 9-11 hijackers attended prior to carrying out the worst terror attack in American history. Authorities are now looking into the likelihood that Nidal Hasan also attended the mosque around this time. It’s known for certain that his mother’s funeral was held there.

There is more to the story of al-Awlaki and his connection to 9-11. It begins here in Southern California. more…..

J.R. Salzman: PTSD

I’m more than a little angry right now.  Yes, I’m irate that some sh-tbag Major (“sh-tbag” is often used as a technical term in the Army) opened fire on a group of his fellow Soldiers killing 12 and wounding 30. But that’s not even what is under my skin right now. Judicial Watch: Homeland Sec. Chief Fears Muslim Backlash

Days after an al Qaeda wannabe Army major went on a murderous rampage at the nation’s largest military base, the Secretary of Homeland Security’s biggest concern appears to be preventing a wave of anti-Muslim sentiment in the United States.

Janet Napolitano, the Obama official in charge of protecting the country’s safety, is most worried about a politically incorrect backlash against Muslims after the Ft. Hood massacre and says her agency is working hard with groups across the U.S. to deflect any retaliation against Muslims for one man’s fury. more…..

Here’s a thought – perhaps if Janet Napolitano was, you know, doing her damn job, which incidentally includes things like protecting Americans from filthy Jihadist animals like Hasan – and not the other way around – maybe we wouldn’t be mourning the loss of these 13 soldiers and one unborn child today.

Rush Limbaugh: The Race Card, Football and Me

From the Wall Street Journal:

“The sports media elicited comments from a handful of players, none of whom I can recall ever meeting. Among other things, at least one said he would never play for a team I was involved in given my racial views. My racial views? You mean, my belief in a colorblind society where every individual is treated as a precious human being without regard to his race? Where football players should earn as much as they can and keep as much as they can, regardless of race? Those controversial racial views?”

-Rush Limbaugh

My guess is that those -  like the players and media sheep – who are cheering his defeat have no idea what they’re really supporting, nor do I think they have any idea what Limbaugh really stands for.

Here’s a hint: read the quote at the top of this post over and over again until it sinks in.

Anyone who claims to be an American should be outraged over what just happened to Limbaugh, not necessarily just because it happened to him, but because the machine that took him down could just as easily turn on and destroy any one of us.

The No Credibility Zone

O’Reilly once again shows why his credibility with long-time conservative viewers is sliding.

On this evening’s show, during a discussion between O’Reilly, Tammy Bruce and Mike Gallagher on the recent conservative victories over Obama and his cronies (Van Jones, ACORN, etc…), Gallagher mentioned the presence of a million protesters at the Capitol on 9/12. O’Reilly, citing the since-discredited fire department number of 75,000, went out of his way to ‘correct’ Gallagher.

Alright, look….although the general consensus is that Gallagher’s number is high in terms of the number in attendance at any one time, the lowball 75,000 figure, widely attributed to the DC fire department, has been shown to be false almost since it was first put forth on the afternoon of the 12th.

So, where did the 75,000 number come from? According to Politifact (via pajamasmedia):

Pete Piringer, public affairs officer for the D.C. Fire and Emergency Department, said the local government no longer provides official crowd estimates because they can become politicized. But the day of the rally, Piringer unofficially told one reporter that he thought between 60,000 and 75,000 people had shown up.

“It was in no way an official estimate,” he said.

We asked Piringer whether there were enough protesters to fill the National Mall, as depicted in the photograph.

“It was an impressive crowd,” he said. But after marching down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol, the crowd “only filled the Capitol grounds, maybe up to Third Street,” he said.

In the days since and through a number of different estimation methods, the number of attendees present at any one time seems to be settling in somewhere between 250,000 and 350,000, with total attendance somewhere north, to far north, to very far north of 400,000, to “damn, there were a lot of freakin’ people there!“.

Rather than re-do the work of others, both pajamas media and political gumbo have taken their own in-depth looks at the numbers.

Conservative Nation subscribe to the ‘full back to third street’ estimate, including Pennsylvania and Maryland Aves, that when compared against park service crowd size estimation methods (see chart at the top of this page) gives us approximately 250,000 at the capitol. Unlike O’Reilly, I was there and can say with absolute confidence that this number can safely be used as an absolute lower bound.

Considering the degree of pride he seems to take in his show’s investigative prowess, there’s no way O’Reilly can be unaware that the number he continues to cite are off by at least a factor of four.

Conservative Nation has no interest in continuing to hammer these attendance numbers, but as long as O’Reilly persists in his attempts, however subtle, to minimize the TEA Party movement, we will continue to call him out on it.

The Moral Bankruptcy Of The Far Left

A thinking, feeling human being should, at their core, have some minimum level of decency, some minimum level of compassion for fellow human beings below which their God-given sense of right and wrong, good and evil, will override their everyday passions and politics; a point below which they will put aside their superficial and even deeply-held beliefs, if only just for a moment, to join with their fellow human beings to say “This Is WRONG!”.

By now, we all know about the ACORN expose by filmmakers James O’Keefe and Hanna Giles. The series of tapes they’ve released this week shows O’Keefe and Giles entering ACORN offices in DC, Baltimore, NYC, San Bernadino and now San Diego dressed as a pimp and prostitute. The premise is that they’re looking for advice and assistance in securing funds for a house in which they plan on setting up a prostitution service featuring 12-15 year-old El Salvadoran girls smuggled into the country illegally. In each and every case,  the ACORN employees were not only not shocked, but were went out of their way to assist and advise O’Keefe and Giles on subjects such as how to set up the business, hide the money, falsify tax forms, and even smuggle the underage girls into the country for the purposes of prostitution.

Even the most partisan among us should be shocked and disgusted by the ACORN employees’ willingness to facilitate and encourage the building of a child prostitution business. No matter how much we may disagree politically, this is something that should repulse us all, as well as bring universal condemnation of ACORN or anyone else who promotes or is complicit in promoting child prostitution.

So what does the ‘compassionate’ far left have to say about this?

An email dropped into my inbox this evening with a link to an article on this rather sad and pathetic anti-FOX news website (sorry, I refuse to link it here) personally attacking James O’Keefe for the job he and Hannah Giles did in exposing ACORN. Throughout the article and extending into the 20 or so comments that followed, the focus of the attack was primarily on O’Keef’s conservative political leanings, as well as some writings on his personal blog in which these losers tried to find something to ridicule. Basically, they ‘dug’, found nothing, and then attacked him anyway. Why? Because that’s what the far left does, lash out like little emotionally unstable children.

What was missing from the article and accompanying comments, however, was any sort of critical analysis of the situation, or acknowledgement – even in passing – that what the ACORN people did was wrong.

The villains, according to these people? O’Keefe. Giles. Beck. Fox. Right Wingers. Conservatives. Republicans.

Here was my response. Not holding my breath expecting it to be approved, but maybe they’ll surprise me:

These two (O’Keefe and Giles) expose an organization intent on helping facilitate child prostitution, and you have a problem with….O’Keefe and Giles?

Are you f*ing kidding me?

In truly classic liberal form, almost to a man you personally attack O’Keefe and Giles but say absolutely nothing about the real issue, which is openly criminal activity by ACORN.

My suggestion to the author of this poorly-written and entirely shameful hit piece, as well as to those passing this link around as though they’re doing the world a favor by ‘exposing’ O’Keefe and Giles: perhaps instead of creating new and increasingly unhinged ways to blame FOX News, Republicans, Glenn Beck, etc…you might instead use the time for some much-needed introspection to perhaps figure what’s gone so horribly wrong in your -own- lives to lead you to the point where you actually believe the filmmakers to be the villains in this thing.

There is something very, very wrong with your thought process.

Next up, we have this video of Ed Schultz, hereafter known as Big Dumb Ed* , interviewing Bertha Lewis of ACORN on MSNBC, hereafter known as the Microsoft National Bias Company*.

Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy

Schultz: Oh yeah, the things these people did were bad but AREN’T FOX NEWS AND THE REPUBLICANS TERRIBLE?

This is why they call Schultz ‘Big Dumb Ed”. Actually, it would be easy to take a few shots at Schultz’ staggering lack of intelligence and extreme intellectual dishonesty and leave it at that, but the fact that he and others like him can simultaneously defend ACORN while blaming everything on the republican party and conservatives only further illustrates the degree of derangement that permeates and even defines the far left. Sickening.

What about the child prostitution, ED, or is that the republicans fault too? Or maybe you’re just OK with it.

(as an aside on Bertha Lewis, the more she talks, the further she sinks the chances of even the best attorneys (not to suggest for a second that sleazeball hack moron ACORN attorney Scott Levinson has the chops to deal with any of this) to construct a case against O’Keefe and Giles that couldn’t be immediately destroyed by someone with the minimal intellectual firepower of, oh, I dunno…. a Tilly sister, perhaps.)

The far left in this country has some real problems; problems that extend well beyond a fatally flawed ideology and into what is, in my opinion, some sort of psychosis that actually allows that ideology to trump even something as vile, as morally repugnant, as undeniably evil as the forced prostitution of children.

And they wonder why their agenda is being rejected by the American people.

Van Jones OUT!

Van Jones – communist, racist, 9/11 truther, supporter of cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal, and black nationalist – resigned from his white house position as Green Jobs Czar late Saturday night.

From the Washington Post:

White House environmental adviser Van Jones resigned Saturday after weeks of controversy stemming from his past activism.

“On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me,” Jones, special adviser for green jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, said in a statement announcing his resignation just after midnight Saturday. “They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.”

He continued: “I have been inundated with calls — from across the political spectrum — urging me to ‘stay and fight.’ But I came here to fight for others, not for myself. I cannot in good conscience ask my colleagues to expend precious time and energy defending or explaining my past. We need all hands on deck, fighting for the future.”

True to form, Jones portrays himself as the victim of a ‘vicious smear campaign‘. NBC news, who has managed to go weeks without addressing the Jones controversy at all, issued a report this morning pretty much blaming the GOP, and ignoring the true nature of Jones’ problems:

Obama Aide Van Jones Resigns After GOP Attacks

President Obama‘s environmental adviser Van Jones resigned from his post late Saturday evening after he came under fire for a series of inflammatory statements he made about Republicans, the White House said early Sunday morning.

The comments on this NBC piece are priceless.

The resignation of Van Jones is a small but important victory for the American people, and should be a clear signal to the Obama administration that their free ride is over.

Glenn Beck and Jim Hoft (Gateway Pundit) have been at the forefront of the Van Jones investigation and deserve much of the credit for taking down this despicable man.

We are making a difference, but there’s still a long way to go and a lot of work to be done. Stay strong, stay vigilant, and we will win this thing.
