Yet Another Obama Appointee Cites Mao

Gee, another communist in the Obama White House? Who would have guessed?

First Van Jones, then Anita Dunn, and now Ron Bloom.

A video has just surfaced showing manufacturing czar Ron Bloom addressing an audience on February 27-28 2008, in which he says:

“we know that the free market is nonsense”

and

“We kind of agree with Mao that political power comes largely from the barrel of a gun”

This is what happens when you elect the criminally stupid to public office.

Chris Cato at WSPA.com reports:

WSPA first reported the mandate on Wednesday after an anonymous citizen faxed a copy of the memo to our newsroom. [Wellford Mayor Sally] Peake was out of town and unavailable for comment. On Friday, reporter Chris Cato caught up with her in her office and questioned her about the origin of the policy. Peake says she issued the mandate because several officers have been injured during chases, driving up insurance costs for the town.

“The officers are costing us more money on insurance than most citizens here in the city of Wellford are even earning,“ says Peake.

She says the city is paying out $20,000 annually in workers’ compensation claims, much of it due to the police force. In July, two officers wrecked their cruisers while chasing suspects and had to go to the hospital for minor treatment. The police chief says three officers have been injured during foot chases in the last two years.

Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright says the policy prevents police from upholding the law—a direct violation of their constitutional oath.

“If a bank robber or a drunk driver or a shoplifter or somebody with a warrant runs on foot, it’s our obligation to do what we can do to bring them to justice,“ says Wright.

But when we asked Peake about her order impeding an officer from stopping a crime in progress, she became defensive and irate. The conversation went as follows:

Reporter: “Are you telling your officers if they witness a crime – they witness someone commit a crime on someone else and they’re ten yards away – they can’t go stop that person?“
Peake: “Is that in there?“ (referring to policy)
Reporter: “It says no chases whatsoever.“
Peake: “Well, that’s what I said, no chases, didn’t I? I didn’t say nothing about a crime. If you see a crime, this that and the other -“
Reporter: “Well, that’s what a chase is – “
Peake: “Well, I told them no chase on foot, and (the police chief) know exactly what I mean, so you’re trying to twist what I -“
Reporter: “No, I’m not. You said no chases. No chases means no chases.“
Peake: (claps hands) “You got you a story, thank God! You are so sweet! You got you a story on a woman in Wellford! Hallelujah! I’m so proud of you, Mr. Cato!“

If I were a criminal, I would be on my way to Wellford, SC right this very minute.

If I were a Wellford resident, I would be doing two things:

  • Making sure my firearms are loaded and ready
  • Starting immediately, pursuing all legal means of removing this dangerously incompetent and and severely unstable woman from office.

A commenter on the WSPA article had the following to say about Peake:

Posted by ( medic21a ) on September 21, 2009 at 2:39 pm

I have noticed that the people who don’t live in Wellford are mistaken if they think we have not tried to have Sally removed from office. We have contacted the Governor (excuse me 2 Governors), the State Voters Commission, SLED (to investigate where all the fire depts Money went after she disbanded them and threw them and the Rescue Squad out of town hall) and the Attorney Generals Office (2 of them also). Not One of them did anything, it was like she couldn’t be touched (sounded really fishy to me). They even did an audit and still could not tell anyone where the money went. Sally would not let anyone have or even see the audit even though we tried to make a big stink using the “freedom of information act”.

Sally was voted out of office every time the election was run and then came out the box of absentee ballots, from the apartments and the nursing homes (most of the pts couldn’t tell you their name).

Before she was mayor, our Fire and Rescue volunteers had dinners, Bakery sales and yard sales, earning enough money to build a 2nd floor on our town hall. We did all the work with the help of our volunteer that was a contractor. So you all can see we have been going through this mess for quite a while. We are at our wits end. We want it all back like it used to be. We were all there in 1 building having family cookouts, cooking barbeque all night and the entire community was welcome. Channel 7 Problem Solver we have a problem for you!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!

No doubt the Obama administration is considering a cabinet position for Peake.

Here are the videos. First is the edited televised version (2:11), second is the unedited raw version (7:06). They have to be seen to be believed.

Obama: Legalize illegals to get them health care

From Washington Times (via Gateway Pundit):

President Obama said this week that his health care plan won’t cover illegal immigrants, but argued that’s all the more reason to legalize them and ensure they eventually do get coverage.

He also staked out a position that anyone in the country legally should be covered – a major break with the 1996 welfare reform bill, which limited most federal public assistance programs only to citizens and longtime immigrants.

“Even though I do not believe we can extend coverage to those who are here illegally, I also don’t simply believe we can simply ignore the fact that our immigration system is broken,” Mr. Obama said Wednesday evening in a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. “That’s why I strongly support making sure folks who are here legally have access to affordable, quality health insurance under this plan, just like everybody else.

Mr. Obama added, “If anything, this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this country once and for all.”

…and here we go. Let’s not worry about the economy, let’s not worry about the intentionally-caused and rapidly widening racial divide that alone threatens to tear us apart, let’s not worry about stabilizing any aspect of our country’s precarious condition.

No, let’s instead just throw open the borders and finish things off once and for all.

Barack Obama and the democrats will stop at nothing to see our country destroyed before his first term is up. The healthcare fight will seem easy compared to the struggle that still lies in front of us.

Be ready.

Meet the Acorn Seven

Here they are, the seven United States senators who voted against defunding the criminal enterprise ACORN, despite the overwhelming audio/video evidence of criminal activity by ACORN employees. This activity includes counseling a young couple who they thought were a pimp and prostitute how to fill out fraudulent home loan forms, how to hide illegally-obtained income from the IRS, and worst of all, how to conceal the fact that they were engaged in the prostitution of underage illegal immigrant girls.

By their votes yesterday, these seven disgraceful, scum-of-the-earth senators told the world that tax fraud, mortgage fraud, and child prostitution & international sex trafficking are a-OK with them.

How they can stand to look at themselves in the mirror is beyond me.

Unfortunately, there is no mechanism I’m aware of for the people to remove a sitting U.S. senator from office prior to the expiration of their current term. Below each senator’s name, I have included their next reelection date. Burris, Gillibrand and Leahy are up in 2010, and Burris so far says he will not seek reelection, and it’s almost a foregone conclusion that Gillibrand won’t be able to hold onto her seat in an election (she was appointed by NY Governor Patterson to fill the senate seat vacated by Hillary Clinton), but New Yorkers need to make damn sure she’s gone by showing up to vote. Leahy is going to be a bit tougher, having served on the US senate since 1975. However, this vote is sure to not sit well with Vermonters, and will most certainly be used by whoever runs against him.

Whitehouse, Sanders and Casey are up in 2012, and Durbin in 2014. Mark your calendars.

In the mean time, call these creeps and let them know the enormity of the mistake they just made.

Obama and the Bureaucratization of Health Care by Sarah Palin

The president’s proposals would give unelected officials life-and-death rationing powers.

By SARAH PALIN

Writing in the New York Times last month, President Barack Obama asked that Americans “talk with one another, and not over one another” as our health-care debate moves forward.

I couldn’t agree more. Let’s engage the other side’s arguments, and let’s allow Americans to decide for themselves whether the Democrats’ health-care proposals should become governing law.

Some 45 years ago Ronald Reagan said that “no one in this country should be denied medical care because of a lack of funds.” Each of us knows that we have an obligation to care for the old, the young and the sick. We stand strongest when we stand with the weakest among us.

We also know that our current health-care system too often burdens individuals and businesses—particularly small businesses—with crippling expenses. And we know that allowing government health-care spending to continue at current rates will only add to our ever-expanding deficit.

How can we ensure that those who need medical care receive it while also reducing health-care costs? The answers offered by Democrats in Washington all rest on one principle: that increased government involvement can solve the problem. I fundamentally disagree.

Common sense tells us that the government’s attempts to solve large problems more often create new ones. Common sense also tells us that a top-down, one-size-fits-all plan will not improve the workings of a nationwide health-care system that accounts for one-sixth of our economy. And common sense tells us to be skeptical when President Obama promises that the Democrats’ proposals “will provide more stability and security to every American.”

With all due respect, Americans are used to this kind of sweeping promise from Washington. And we know from long experience that it’s a promise Washington can’t keep.

Let’s talk about specifics. In his Times op-ed, the president argues that the Democrats’ proposals “will finally bring skyrocketing health-care costs under control” by “cutting . . . waste and inefficiency in federal health programs like Medicare and Medicaid and in unwarranted subsidies to insurance companies . . . .”

First, ask yourself whether the government that brought us such “waste and inefficiency” and “unwarranted subsidies” in the first place can be believed when it says that this time it will get things right. The nonpartistan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) doesn’t think so: Its director, Douglas Elmendorf, told the Senate Budget Committee in July that “in the legislation that has been reported we do not see the sort of fundamental changes that would be necessary to reduce the trajectory of federal health spending by a significant amount.”

Now look at one way Mr. Obama wants to eliminate inefficiency and waste: He’s asked Congress to create an Independent Medicare Advisory Council—an unelected, largely unaccountable group of experts charged with containing Medicare costs. In an interview with the New York Times in April, the president suggested that such a group, working outside of “normal political channels,” should guide decisions regarding that “huge driver of cost . . . the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives . . . .”

Given such statements, is it any wonder that many of the sick and elderly are concerned that the Democrats’ proposals will ultimately lead to rationing of their health care by—dare I say it—death panels? Establishment voices dismissed that phrase, but it rang true for many Americans. Working through “normal political channels,” they made themselves heard, and as a result Congress will likely reject a wrong-headed proposal to authorize end-of-life counseling in this cost-cutting context. But the fact remains that the Democrats’ proposals would still empower unelected bureaucrats to make decisions affecting life or death health-care matters. Such government overreaching is what we’ve come to expect from this administration.

Speaking of government overreaching, how will the Democrats’ proposals affect the deficit? The CBO estimates that the current House proposal not only won’t reduce the deficit but will actually increase it by $239 billion over 10 years. Only in Washington could a plan that adds hundreds of billions to the deficit be hailed as a cost-cutting measure.

The economic effects won’t be limited to abstract deficit numbers; they’ll reach the wallets of everyday Americans. Should the Democrats’ proposals expand health-care coverage while failing to curb health-care inflation rates, smaller paychecks will result. A new study for Watson Wyatt Worldwide by Steven Nyce and Syl Schieber concludes that if the government expands health-care coverage while health-care inflation continues to rise “the higher costs would drive disposable wages downward across most of the earnings spectrum, although the declines would be steepest for lower-earning workers.” Lower wages are the last thing Americans need in these difficult economic times.

Finally, President Obama argues in his op-ed that Democrats’ proposals “will provide every American with some basic consumer protections that will finally hold insurance companies accountable.” Of course consumer protection sounds like a good idea. And it’s true that insurance companies can be unaccountable and unresponsive institutions—much like the federal government. That similarity makes this shift in focus seem like nothing more than an attempt to deflect attention away from the details of the Democrats’ proposals—proposals that will increase our deficit, decrease our paychecks, and increase the power of unaccountable government technocrats.

Instead of poll-driven “solutions,” let’s talk about real health-care reform: market-oriented, patient-centered, and result-driven. As the Cato Institute’s Michael Cannon and others have argued, such policies include giving all individuals the same tax benefits received by those who get coverage through their employers; providing Medicare recipients with vouchers that allow them to purchase their own coverage; reforming tort laws to potentially save billions each year in wasteful spending; and changing costly state regulations to allow people to buy insurance across state lines. Rather than another top-down government plan, let’s give Americans control over their own health care.

Democrats have never seriously considered such ideas, instead rushing through their own controversial proposals. After all, they don’t need Republicans to sign on: Democrats control the House, the Senate and the presidency. But if passed, the Democrats’ proposals will significantly alter a large sector of our economy. They will not improve our health care. They will not save us money. And, despite what the president says, they will not “provide more stability and security to every American.”

We often hear such overblown promises from Washington. With first principles in mind and with the facts in hand, tell them that this time we’re not buying it.

Sarah Palin: YOUR TAX DOLLARS HARD AT WORK: FIRST CARS, NOW FOREIGN OIL.

Update (scroll to bottom of post): Soros Hedge Fund Bought Petrobras (Brazil oil co.)  Stake Worth $811 Million in q2 2009

From Sarah Palin’s Facebook page, her reaction to the news that Team Obama has committed billion$ of American dollars to oil exploration and drilling….in Brazil:

YOUR TAX DOLLARS HARD AT WORK: FIRST CARS, NOW FOREIGN OIL.

Today’s Wall Street Journal contains some puzzling news for all Americans who are impacted by high energy prices and who share the goal of moving us toward energy independence.

For years, states rich with an abundance of oil and natural gas have been begging Washington, DC politicians for the right to develop their own natural resources on federal lands and off shore. Such development would mean good paying jobs here in the United States (with health benefits) and the resulting royalties and taxes would provide money for federal coffers that would potentially off-set the need for higher income taxes, reduce the federal debt and deficits, or even help fund a trillion dollar health care plan if one were so inclined to support such a plan.

So why is it that during these tough times, when we have great needs at home, the Obama White House is prepared to send more than two billion of your hard-earned tax dollars to Brazil so that the nation’s state-owned oil company, Petrobras, can drill off shore and create jobs developing its own resources? That’s all Americans want; but such rational energy development has been continually thwarted by rabid environmentalists, faceless bureaucrats and a seemingly endless parade of lawsuits aimed at shutting down new energy projects.

I’ll speak for the talent I have personally witnessed on the oil fields in Alaska when I say no other country in the world has a stronger workforce than America, no other country in the world has better safety standards than America, and no other country in the world has stricter environmental standards than America. Come to Alaska to witness how oil and gas can be developed simultaneously with the preservation of our eco-system. America has the resources. We deserve the opportunity to develop our resources no less than the Brazilians. Millions of Americans know it is true: “Drill, baby, drill.” Alaska is proof you can drill and develop, and preserve nature, with its magnificent caribou herds passing by the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS), completely unaffected. One has to wonder if Obama is playing politics and perhaps refusing a “win” for some states just to play to the left with our money.

The new Gulf of Mexico lease sales tomorrow sound promising and perhaps will move some states in the right direction, but we all know that the extreme environmentalists who serve to block progress elsewhere, including in Alaska, continue to block opportunities. These environmentalists are putting our nation in peril and forcing us to rely on unstable and hostile foreign countries. Mr. Obama can stop the extreme tactics and exert proper government authority to encourage resource development and create jobs and health benefits in the U.S.; instead, he chooses to use American dollars in Brazil that will help to pay the salaries and benefits for Brazilians to drill for resources when the need and desire is great in America.

Buy American is a wonderful slogan, but you can’t say in one breath that you want to strengthen our economy and stimulate it, and then in another ship our much-needed dollars to a nation desperate to drill while depriving us of the same opportunity.

- Sarah Palin

…..

Update: According to a Bloomberg article, “Billionaire investor George Soros bought an $811 million stake in Petroleo Brasileiro SA in the second quarter, making the Brazilian state-controlled oil company his investment fund’s largest holding.”

As we know, Petroleo Brasileiro SA is the company that Team Obama has just committed 2 billion dollars to. I don’t care who you are or on which side of the political aisle you choose to sit, the stink coming off this deal is overwhelming and undeniable. President Obama is actively working against the best interests of the United States, and – although I’ve never been completely onboard the ‘Soros is running the show’ bandwagon – George Soros is in it up to his ears.

Scared? Outraged? You’d better be both.

White House Dishonesty In The Promotion Of Obamacare

After spending the last several days hurling insults at Obamacare protesters and accusing us of ‘bussing in’ plants and ‘operatives’ to town hall meetings across the country – and, I might add, without a shred of supporting evidence like, you know, some actual video of these conservative mobs unloading from Trailways busses at the protest sites – team Obama is caught not only planting stooges with scripted questions in the audience, but actually bussing them in.

Of course, team Obama denies there were plants in his audience, but you be the judge:

hotairpundit story: http://hotairpundit.blogspot.com/2009/08/obama-town-hall-supporters-in-new.html

Local television news WUMR video: http://www.wmur.com/video/20358253/index.html

The busses are visible at about the 45 second mark; the accompanying narrative goes “[the protesters] were quickly drowned out, not only by bongos, but by busloads of Obama healthcare supporters

At about 2:15: “About 2000 people are going get to participate in this townhall meeting, you saw them get bussed in here about an hour ago…

hotair weighs in: http://hotair.com/archives/2009/08/12/video-astroturfing-at-obamas-nh-town-hall/

Conservative Nation told you about the young girl’s ties to team Obama yesterday.

Dishonesty at every turn. It’s the Obama way.

Now, here’s what really happened at the Obama town hall yesterday. Youtube member and fellow patriot NHlimited posted the following story and video:

As the president’s planted crowd read soft-ball questions from a script for the president, so he could return scripted answers, and literal bus loads of pro-Obama protesters with the same shirt and the same manufactured signs emptied onto the green at Portsmouth High School in New Hampshire on August 11, 2009 to try to offset anti-Obama protesters, real New Hampshire residents and citizens from surrounding states came in groups of two at most in plain clothes with homemade signs to protest the farce that was going on inside the school. Anti-Obama protesters who did not get in to the school asked the tough questions and made their opposition to Obamacare and the otherwise socialist Obama agenda well known to anyone who would listen. To ensure that this side of the story gets told, we have included only the folks who were underrepresented inside Obama’s fraudulent Town Hall meeting to make sure our voices are also heard.
